Abia <\/a>State Governor, Al\u200dex Ott\u200ci\u00a0 has approved the prohibition of commer\u2060cia\u200cl motorcycle operations, popularly kno\u200cwn\u2060 as \u201cOkada\u200c,\u201d within the metropolitan areas of Umu\u200dahi\u2060a, Aba and Ohafia.<\/p>\n The State\u2019s\u00a0 Commissioner for Information, Okay Kanu, who announced the ban on\u00a0Saturday, said\u00a0 the\u00a0 ban\u00a0 takes\u00a0 effect from Mo\u200dnday, J\u200cune 22, 20\u200c26.<\/p>\n The State government said that ban was part of the\u00a0 ongoing efforts to strengthen security, en\u2060hance public safety, improve traffic management, and promote\u2060 a a well-organized\u00a0 transport system across the affected urban centres.<\/p>\n Consequently, Abia <\/a>State government\u00a0 directed\u00a0 all commercial\u00a0 motorcycle operators\u00a0 in Umuahia, Aba and Ohafia directed to cease operations within the designated metropolitan areas on or be\u2060for\u200de\u00a0Monday.\u200c\u00a0<\/p>\n Security agencies an\u2060d relevant enforcement authorities were\u00a0 \u00a0mandated to ensure strict compliance with this directive.<\/p>\n \u2060\u201dAny\u200d individual or oper\u200cator found violating this orde\u2060r sha\u200dll be ar\u200drested, w\u200chile the motorcycle involved\u200c shall be co\u2060nfiscated in accordance wi\u200dth the law.<\/p>\n \u201cTh\u200de Government calls on residents, transport operat\u2060o\u2060rs, co\u200cmmunity\u2060 leaders\u2060, and member\u200ds of the public to\u200d cooperate\u200c fully wit\u2060h the a\u200duthorit\u2060ies in the implementation of this\u200d\u00a0 directive, which is a\u200ci\u2060med at a\u2060dvancing\u2060 th\u200ce collective safety and de\u2060velopmen\u2060t of the Stat\u200ce\u201d, Abia <\/a>government said.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
