OVER 20 APGA, PDP MEMBERS DEFECT TO LABOUR PARTY IN UTURU.<\/p>\n

More than 20 members of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside their supporters, have defected to the Labour Party (LP) in Uturu, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia <\/a>State.<\/p>\n

The defectors were formally received into the Labour Party at a well-attended ceremony held at Unity Hall, Uturu, with Governor Dr. Alex <\/a>Otti represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Welcoming the new members, Emetu described their decision as a vote of confidence in the administration of Governor Otti and the Labour Party, assuring them of equal opportunities and participation in the affairs of the party.<\/p>\n

He urged Abians to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the ongoing Labour Party e-registration exercise, stressing that the continuation of the current administration\u2019s developmental strides depends on the support of the electorate.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have left Egypt and we are not going back. We are moving forward because Abia <\/a>is on the path of progress. If you want the good works of Governor Alex <\/a>Otti to continue, you must get your PVC and support the Labour Party,\u201d Emetu said.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Governor further called on party members to work towards delivering overwhelming victories for Labour Party candidates in the 2027 elections, noting that a united political structure would enhance effective representation and accelerated development across the state.<\/p>\n

Speaking earlier, the member representing Isuikwuato State Constituency, Hon. Lucky Johnson, commended Governor Otti for the developmental projects being executed in Uturu and other parts of Isuikwuato, including the installation of a high-capacity solar-powered electricity project.<\/p>\n

He urged residents to remain steadfast in their support for the Labour Party, assuring them that more democratic dividends, including road infrastructure projects, were on the way.<\/p>\n

In their separate remarks,, the Commissioner for Trade and Commerce, Dr. Mrs. Salome Nkemakolam Obiukwu, and the Mayor of Isuikwuato LGA, Hon. Chinedu Ekekwe, encouraged residents to take advantage of the ongoing PVC registration exercise and support Governor Otti\u2019s re-election bid in 2027.<\/p>\n

In his address, the Isuikwuato Labour Party Chairman, Hon. Harrison Onuke, described the influx of new members as evidence of the growing acceptance of the Labour Party and the popularity of Governor Otti\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n

Onuke assured the Deputy Governor that the party structure across the local government remained united and prepared to deliver victory for all Labour Party candidates in future elections.<\/p>\n

Responding on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Pastor Eugene Chuwa thanked Governor Otti and the Labour Party leadership for receiving them, pledging total loyalty and commitment to the party.<\/p>\n

Chuwa said the defectors joined the Labour Party because of the visible achievements of the Otti administration and vowed to work for the growth and success of the party in Isuikwuato and across Abia <\/a>State.<\/p>\n

The event attracted party leaders, stakeholders, women and youth groups, as supporters reiterated their commitment to sustaining the Labour Party\u2019s growing political dominance in the area.<\/p>\n
