The Lagos Police Command has revealed that its investigations indicate that the explosion in Mushin was caused by the failure of a pressurised mechanical component and not an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) or any other criminal act.<\/p>\n
In an update issued on Thursday, the command said its investigation ruled out terrorism, sabotage and the use of explosives.<\/p>\n
The police said forensic and technical findings revealed no traces of explosive materials, detonators, initiation systems, explosive residues or blast characteristics associated with explosive attacks.<\/p>\n
The command stated: \u201cThe investigation has conclusively established that the incident was not caused by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), terrorist activity, sabotage, or any form of criminal use of explosives.<\/p>\n
\u201cTechnical findings revealed no traces of explosive materials, detonators, initiation systems, explosive residues, or blast characteristics ordinarily associated with explosive attacks.\u201d<\/p>\n
The command said the incident resulted from the catastrophic failure of a pressurised mechanical component located outside the vehicle.<\/p>\n
According to the police, the failure triggered a sudden release of energy that shattered the vehicle\u2019s front passenger-side glass panels, adding\u00a0that the incident caused minor injuries to the vehicle\u2019s occupant.<\/p>\n
\u201cInvestigation established that the incident resulted from the catastrophic failure of a pressurised mechanical component outside the vehicle.<\/p>\n
