{"id":243379,"date":"2026-07-01T08:28:04","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T08:28:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/fuel-prices-to-drop-in-two-weeks-former-edo-commissioner-ojiefoh\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T08:28:04","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T08:28:04","slug":"fuel-prices-to-drop-in-two-weeks-former-edo-commissioner-ojiefoh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/fuel-prices-to-drop-in-two-weeks-former-edo-commissioner-ojiefoh\/","title":{"rendered":"\u201cFuel prices to drop in two weeks\u201d \u2013 Former Edo commissioner Ojiefoh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"p1\">Former Edo State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Enahoro Ojiefoh, has assured Nigerians of an imminent reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) across the country.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ojiefoh, however, clarified that the drop will not be as immediate or drastic as many expect. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Speaking on <\/span><span class=\"s2\">News Central<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, he explained that the recent price reduction by the Dangote Refinery and the global decline in oil prices \u2014 triggered by easing tensions in the US-Iran conflict \u2014 will not translate into an instant drop in pump prices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">He noted that Dangote Refinery recently slashed its gantry price by \u20a650, bringing the price of a litre of PMS to between \u20a61,250 and \u20a61,300 in some parts of the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Responding to public outrage over marketers\u2019 failure to immediately reflect the new prices, Ojiefoh said no businessman would sell at a loss.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cThe oil marketers will need time to clear their old stocks before reverting to the new prices,\u201d Ojiefoh said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cTwo to three weeks from now, the price will start dropping. Given the current state of the energy market, we are not sure the price will drop significantly in the next few days, even with the ongoing negotiations in the Middle East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cBut we are confident that as soon as marketers sell off the stock they currently hold, new stock will arrive at the reduced price and the pump price will definitely come down.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201cHowever, at the moment, nobody should expect miracles.
