Abia <\/a>State Government has announced that the the former State Civil Service Commission office in Umuahia has been demolished and cleared as a housing layout.<\/p>\n It also said that former Abia <\/a>Hotels located at Finbars Road Umuahia has been cleared to be used for a housing project.<\/p>\n According to the state government, the measure was part of the Governor Alex <\/a>Otti\u00a0\u00a0administration\u2019s plan to provide functional and affordable housing for Abia <\/a>residents.<\/p>\n The Commissioner for Information, Okey Kanu, announced the housing plans at the Government House, Umuahia, while briefing journalists on the outcome of this week\u2019s Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Otti.<\/p>\n He noted that the administration was committed to addressing the housing challenges facing the citizens of the state, which entailed the conversion of the former government facilities to housing units.<\/p>\n The commissioner stated that the lands at the former Civil Service Commission and Abia <\/a>Hotels have already been parcellated for the projects.<\/p>\n \u201cThe old civil service area has been successful cleared and parcellated. The Abia <\/a>Hotels area on the other hand, will be ready within a fortnight for parcelating and allotment to contractors,\u201d Kanu said.<\/p>\n The state government in the same vein dismissed claims that children from poor homes were denied admission into the Smart School in Ubakala.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
