Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has congratulated Mrs. Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, on her historic election as the first woman democratically elected President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), describing the achievement as a major milestone for the legal profession and women\u2019s leadership in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
In a statement signed by the Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, the Council said Badejo-Okusanya\u2019s emergence as the 33rd President of the NBA demonstrates that competence, integrity and visionary leadership are the true qualities that define effective leadership.<\/p>\n
The Council noted that her election represents not only a personal accomplishment but also a victory for Nigerian women and young professionals striving to break barriers through hard work, merit and excellence.<\/p>\n
It observed that the development is particularly significant as Comrade Grace Ike recently became the first female Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council in its 43-year history, describing the emergence of women to lead two of Nigeria\u2019s foremost professional bodies as a clear indication of growing acceptance of inclusive and merit-based leadership.<\/p>\n
The NUJ FCT Council expressed confidence that Badejo-Okusanya\u2019s administration would strengthen the NBA\u2019s legacy of promoting the rule of law, constitutional democracy and the protection of human rights while advancing reforms in the justice sector.<\/p>\n
The Council also reaffirmed its commitment to working with the legal profession to promote democratic governance, accountability, press freedom and the rule of law.<\/p>\n
It wished the President-elect a successful and impactful tenure, expressing optimism that her leadership would inspire more women to pursue leadership positions and leave a lasting legacy in the legal profession.<\/p>\n
