{"id":243744,"date":"2026-07-23T07:25:36","date_gmt":"2026-07-23T07:25:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/frsc-begins-special-intervention-to-reduce-fatalities-on-abia-roads-targets-offenders\/"},"modified":"2026-07-23T07:25:36","modified_gmt":"2026-07-23T07:25:36","slug":"frsc-begins-special-intervention-to-reduce-fatalities-on-abia-roads-targets-offenders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.com.ng\/news\/frsc-begins-special-intervention-to-reduce-fatalities-on-abia-roads-targets-offenders\/","title":{"rendered":"FRSC begins special intervention to reduce fatalities on Abia roads, targets offenders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"mvp-content-main\">\n<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC,\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State Sector Command, has commenced a special intervention patrol codenamed \u201cOperation KWUSI IHE MBEREDE OKPOROUZO, as directed by its\u00a0 zonal Command Headquarters in Enugu.<\/p>\n<p>The operation, according to the FRSC, is part of\u00a0 strategic efforts towards achieving its 2026 corporate goal of reducing road traffic fatalities and injuries by at least 10 percent through intensified enforcement, public enlightenment, and stakeholder collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the commencement of the exercise, the Sector Commander, CC Ngozi I. Ezeoma, stated that the operation was designed to promote safer road use, reduce preventable crashes, and ensure strict compliance with traffic regulations across <a href=\"https:\/\/abiaradiostations.name.ng\/news\/abia\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Abia <\/a>State.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Sector Commander, the Command has deployed Regular Marshals and Special Marshals, supported by patrol vehicles, ambulances, tow trucks, and other operational logistics to ensure the success of the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>The three-day operation, which will be conducted every month from 0700hrs to 1300hrs, will focus on enforcing compliance with critical traffic regulations, particularly offences relating to overloading and mixed loading of vehicles;<\/p>\n<p>She said that vehicles\u00a0 without\u00a0 valid driver\u2019s licence, non-compliance with speed limiting device regulations and\u00a0 use of mobile phone while driving, among others offenses, would be targeted in the exercise.<\/p>\n<p>She also dismissed every suggestion that the operation was introduced to punish motorists.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis operation is not intended to punish motorists but to save lives by discouraging risky driving behaviours that are responsible for the majority of road traffic crashes,\u201d the Sector Commander said.<\/p>\n<section class=\"dp-more-stories dp-ms--m1\" aria-label=\"You may like\">\n<h3 class=\"dp-ms-heading\">You may like<\/h3>\n<\/section><\/div>\n<p><script async defer crossorigin=\"anonymous\" src=\"https:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/sdk.js#xfbml=1&amp;version=v9.0&amp;appId=420332301344305\" nonce=\"sm97MhBO\" type=\"pmdelayedscript\" data-cfasync=\"false\" data-no-optimize=\"1\" data-no-defer=\"1\" data-no-minify=\"1\"><\/script><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC,\u00a0 Abia State Sector Command, has commenced a special intervention patrol codenamed \u201cOperation KWUSI IHE MBEREDE OKPOROUZO, as directed by its\u00a0 zonal Command Headquarters in Enugu.
