‘Only God Knows Tomorrow’ – Gov Yusuf Says After Dumping NNPP

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared that his political future in the 2027 general elections lies in the hands of God, adding that he remains focused on serving the people rather than preoccupying himself with electoral ambitions.

Abia Radio News reports that the governor made the remarks on Saturday during the distribution of motorcycles to social media influencers drawn from the 44 local government areas of the state.

Addressing his supporters, Governor Yusuf emphasised that political power is transient and ultimately decided by divine will.

He said, “Whatever decision we take, it is God that destined it. And we believe He will guide us. For me, the people come first, before 2027.

“Only God knows tonight, tomorrow or next who will live to see them, not to even talk about 2027. We believe when we get there, God will see us through. If God decides it is us, so be it, and if He decides otherwise, it is still His will.”

Yusuf also used the opportunity to caution social media handlers against promoting division and hate speech, urging them instead to foster unity among Kano residents.

“Let us use social media to unite and uplift Kano and its people out of the challenges we face,” he urged.

He explained that the motorcycle donation was part of an appreciation package for the influencers who supported his campaign across the state.

Conspicuously absent at the event was Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, further fuelling speculation of a growing rift within the state’s political leadership following Governor Yusuf’s resignation from the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP).

Gwarzo, once a regular fixture at the governor’s public events, has in recent weeks been seen aligning more closely with NNPP leader and former governor, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

Notably, hours before Governor Yusuf announced his resignation, Vanguard reported that Gwarzo was spotted at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA), where he reportedly welcomed Kwankwaso upon his return to the state.
