Gov Eno Personally Oversees Projects, Demands Accountability – Aide

The Senior Special Assistant on Research and Documentation to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Essien Ndueso, has revealed that the governor personally monitors projects and demands accountability from contractors.

He said Governor Eno frequently pays unscheduled visits to project sites, sometimes late at night, to ensure contractors deliver projects according to specifications and timelines.

Dr. Ndueso made the remarks on Wednesday while featuring as a guest on Supporters Circle, a radio programme produced by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Support Groups.

According to him, Governor Eno is not an armchair leader but one who leads from the front, personally supervising projects and making unannounced visits to project sites to ensure quality delivery.

The senior aide also described Governor Eno as a humble and compassionate leader whose greatest joy comes from improving the welfare of vulnerable members of society. He recounted how the governor once broke protocol to assist a vulnerable woman while returning from a church service.

“Beyond offering immediate help, the governor ensured that her medical needs were addressed and her home rehabilitated,” he said.

Dr. Ndueso further stated that the governor deliberately prioritised social welfare interventions during the early years of his administration, including updating the state’s social register and distributing food items to indigent households.

Announcing the result of the Supporters Circle poll, which commenced on June 1, 2026, to identify listeners’ views on the foremost supporter of Governor Umo Eno, Dr. Ndueso commended Prince Enobong Uwah for his contributions to the growth and realisation of the ARISE Agenda.

He noted that members of the public recognised Prince Uwah’s consistent and passionate support for Governor Umo Eno and his administration.

Dr. Ndueso also said Governor Eno has institutionalised participatory governance by allowing communities to determine the projects they need through constituency briefings and the “One Project Per Local Government Area” initiative.

“This administration is people-driven. The governor listens to the people, allows them to identify their priorities, and then implements projects based on their needs. That way, communities take ownership of development projects,” he stated.

He also spoke on ongoing tourism and infrastructure projects in Oron Federal Constituency, including the marine resort, ferry services, and preparations for the Ibom Deep Seaport project, describing them as strategic investments aimed at unlocking economic opportunities for the state.

On political support for the governor, Dr. Ndueso commended the Director-General of Support Groups, Pastor Samuel Udoh, for effectively coordinating support structures and ensuring inclusiveness among various groups across the state.

He urged Akwa Ibom people to sustain the prevailing peace in the state, stressing that peace remains the foundation for continued development.
