The Governor, Dr Alex Otti, says he is focused on governance and delivering on promises made to the people of the state and will not be derailed by activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Governor Otti who was Speaking at his office in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South Local government area, while receiving members of the Old Students Association of the Federal School of Arts and Science Aba, insisted that no amount of distractions will

stop ongoing development projects across the state.

The Governor stated that although political processes such as party primaries and general elections were approaching, they would not serve as a distraction to his administration, noting that Abia people are discerning and understand what is in their best interest.

He added that God does not embark on unfinished business and expressed confidence that his administration would complete the projects entrusted to it by the people and commended the alumni association for its initiative to renovate one of the hostels in their alma mater.

The Governor also appreciated the association for choosing Abia as the venue for its biannual meeting, noting that the decision is in recognition of the improved security and development in the state.

Governor Otti used the forum to highlight the support of his administration for power sector reforms, adding that his decision to support Prof. Bart Nnaji and the Aba power project is aimed at ensuring steady electricity supply across the state,as arrangement is at payment stage to acquire the Umuahia ring-fenced area of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) to extend power to the remaining 8 Local government areas of Abia central and Abia North.

The Governor noted that with additional turbine, power generation could reach 188 megawatts, thereby allowing surplus electricity from Aba to be transmitted to other parts of the state , pointing out that the establishment of the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency has positioned the state to independently regulate its electricity market.

Earlier, the President of the Old Students Association,Mr Tony Ejieji, commended Governor Otti for the significant improvements in security and infrastructure across the state, noting that the prevailing peace influenced the decision of the association to hold its meeting in the state.

He expressed optimism that progress recorded under the current administration would be preserved and urged the Governor to continue with his developmental agenda in fulfilment of his God-given mandate for the state.
