Whenever I Make Mistakes, There’s a Problem – Madam Saje Opens Up On Marriage

Veteran Nollywood actress Fausat Balogun, popularly known as Madam Saje, has shared details about the struggles she faced during her long career in the film industry, including issues in her marriage.

Abia Radio News reports that the actress spoke in a recent interview featured on Behind the Fame, where she reflected on her journey spanning over 50 years in acting.

She explained that while working on set, she could often sense trouble at home based on her husband’s reaction whenever she made mistakes during performances.

According to her, a certain look from him usually meant there would be issues later, showing the tension she experienced in her marriage.

She said: “Whenever I am acting and I make a mistake, my husband will look at me in a certain way, that means there will be a problem that night”.

Balogun also spoke about the difficult conditions she faced while growing up and trying to build a career in Yoruba theatre.

She revealed that she suffered physical punishment from her father and at times had no food to eat.

The actress said the situation became so bad that she had to find ways to survive, including taking food when she had nothing.

She added that her journey in the industry was not easy, as she did not follow quick paths to success like some others.

Instead, she endured years of hardship and sacrifice before gaining recognition.
