Adeleke Has No Rival In Osun – Accord Party Declares

The Osun State chapter of the Accord Party has reaffirmed that Governor Ademola Adeleke remains the party’s undisputed candidate for the August 8 governorship election.

The Chairman of Accord Party in Osun State, Victor Akande, speaking with newsmen in Osogbo on Thursday, dismissed the purported candidature of Clement Bamigbola as a “waste of time and resources,” insisting that Adeleke’s position as the party flagbearer is secure.

The party chairman described claims of an internal faction as baseless.

“The kangaroo primary purportedly held by a non-existent faction is just a ruse. Such a faction does not exist within our party structure by law,” Akande said.

He added that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has previously dealt with similar cases in other states, including Anambra and Ekiti, and assured that the situation in Osun would be no different.

“Those who were spreading the existence of a factional candidate are just political jobbers seeking attention for pecuniary gain. But I am assuring you that Governor Adeleke has no rival as far as our party ticket is concerned,” he emphasised.

Addressing concerns over the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, Akande exuded confidence that the ruling party poses no threat to Adeleke’s re-election bid.

“We know the antecedents of the APC; we know how they governed when they were in power. The party reduced workers to beggars through the payment of half salary. We would not return to such era again,” he said.

Akande reminded Osun residents of the APC’s defeat in the 2022 elections, saying the people would make their voices even louder in August.

“The people have rejected APC at the polls in 2022 and would even speak louder in August to make APC realise that Osun does not want the party to return it to the era of darkness,” he added.
