‘Burna Boy Can’t Win’ – Seyi Sodimu Gives Reason Davido Can Win Governorship Election

Veteran Nigerian musician, Seyi Sodimu, has asserted that the influence of Nigerian Grammy-nominated singer, David Adeleke, better known as Davido, extends beyond music and could win a governorship election, unlike his colleague, Burna Boy.

Abia Radio News reports that Sodimu, in a recent episode of the ‘What I Know’ podcast hosted by Korty EO alongside Shaffy Bello, stated that the ‘Afrobeats Big 3’ all wield different kinds of influence.

The Love Me Jeje crooner explained that Wizkid has a special influence, Burna Boy has purely musical influence, while Davido’s influence has surpassed music.

According to Sodimu, Davido can win a governorship election because of his influence, but Burna Boy cannot win.

He said, “The [Afrobeats] Big 3, each one is doing it [music] for different reasons. Burna Boy has conquered the stage. And he is good. Wizkid is special. And Davido surpasses music.

“What do I mean by that? If Davido ran for governor today, he would win. But I don’t think Burna Boy could win as a governor.”

This is not the first time a public figure has tipped Davido for a governorship position, but the singer has not declared interest in contesting for any public office.

Recall that in 2025, a former Nigerian lawmaker, Senator Ben Maurice Bruce, claimed that Davido would one day become the governor of Osun state.
