The Nigeria Police Zone 9 has witnessed another significant milestone as Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Olatise Stephen was formally promoted and decorated as Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP).
Born in 1974 in Ekiti State, ACP Olatise joined the Nigeria Police Force on 15th August 2004 as a Cadet Superintendent of Police, bringing with him a strong educational background in Education, alongside advanced professional certifications in Strategic Leadership and Advanced Detective Courses. Over the years, he has traveled across Africa gaining exposure to international best practices in policing.
Until his latest elevation, Olatise served as the Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge of Administration and Finance in Zone 9 headquarters in Umuahia, Abia state, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to professionalism and efficiency.
Speaking during the decoration ceremony, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Kanayo Uchegbu hailed the promotion as a call to “higher wisdom and greater action.” AIG Uchegbu thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and the Police Service Commission for recognizing and rewarding merit within the Force.

“This is more than just a rank change; it is a call to do more. I thank the IGP for his encouragement and the reforms he is spearheading which are helping us do our jobs better,” he said.
On his part, Zone 9 Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Iheanetu Bruno Chukwudera, described the promotion as a significant milestone for ACP Olatise and others who were elevated. He referred to it as “entry into the higher chamber of the Nigeria Police Force”, stressing that the new position comes with added responsibilities and expectations.
“Crossing to ACP is no small feat. It means the Force is trusting you with more. You must deliver,” SP Bruno stated.
In a heartfelt expression of gratitude, ACP Olatise Stephen gave thanks to God for his promotion and appreciated both the IGP and the Police Service Commission for finding him worthy.
“I have been at the CSP rank for about 8 years. I don’t take this elevation for granted. A wise man once said, ‘To whom much is given, much is expected.’ I understand the responsibility that comes with this promotion and I am ready to give more to the Nigerian Police,” he stated.
ACP Olatise was decorated alongside ACP Abayomi, another seasoned officer.
The event marks a new chapter for Olatise whose dedication, experience, and leadership continue to shape the future of policing in Nigeria.
