‘Empty Barrel Always Makes The Loudest Noise’ – Otti Blast Ex-Govs Ganging Up Against His Re-Election

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has urged residents of the state to disregard recent remarks and political moves by some opposition leaders, describing them as mere “noise” driven by personal interests.

Abia Radio News reports that Otti spoke on Saturday at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Umuoriehi, Umuahia North Local Government Area, during the dedication of a new church building.

The governor was reacting to a reported alliance against his re-election by former Abia governors Orji Uzor Kalu, Theodore Orji and Okezie Ikpeazu.

The governor criticised the opposition figures, saying they were the same individuals who had opportunities in the past but failed to develop the state.

According to him, their current political manoeuvres were motivated by personal ambition rather than the collective interest of the Abia people.

“They are the same people who had the opportunity to develop Abia and failed,” Otti said, adding that any coalition formed against his administration would ultimately collapse.

Following comments earlier from the church’s pastor, the governor downplayed the political tension, urging Abians not to be distracted.

He said, “Pastor Uguru made reference to the noise that you may have been hearing in the last few days.

“I want us to just dismiss it as noise, you know, and it’s always the empty barrel that makes the loudest noise.

“They are a tiny minority. And God doesn’t make mistakes. And he doesn’t have an unfinished project. So, I don’t want anybody to lose breath or worry about it.”

Otti assured the congregation that his administration remained focused on transforming Abia State, insisting that political distractions would not derail his development agenda.

He reiterated his resolve to continue what he described as the ongoing effort to change the narrative of governance in the state, urging citizens to remain supportive and united.
