Kwankwaso’s ‘Excessive Demands’ To APC Is False Accusations – NNPP Debunks Defection Talks

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has dismissed reports that its National leader, Rabiu Kwankwaso, made ‘excessive demands’ from the All Progressives Congress (APC) during defection talks with President Bola Tinubu and other party stakeholders.

Abia Radio News reports that Kwankwaso reportedly demanded control of 20 per cent of the APC’s national structure, the vice-presidential slot and a guaranteed presidential ticket in 2031.

However, the NNPP National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, in an interview with Daily Post, described the reports as a terrible campaign of false accusations, which, according to him, has failed.

Johnson noted that Kwankwaso was never involved in any talks with the APC, and the purported demands are an attempt to tarnish his name.

He said, “It’s really sad that these lies aren’t just being made up by some people who try to sound important, but they’re also being printed as the main stories in big newspapers.

“We want to clearly and officially say that Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso never had any meeting with President Bola Tinubu or any of his representatives, whether inside the APC or outside, where the topic of switching parties was talked about.

“Just days ago, a newspaper published a main story about the ‘details’ of why Senator Kwankwaso’s ‘defection’ didn’t work, based heavily on his supposed demands before joining the APC.

“It was all nonsense, because nothing like that ever happened. It might be thought that the story was created to damage Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso’s reputation. But they have failed in this terrible campaign of false accusations.

“This is the truth, and nothing but the truth. To that extent, we are asking Nigerians to ignore these media reports, whether they come as news stories or articles and columns that spread false information.

“It’s all a bad attempt to damage Kwankwaso’s name, but these troublemakers have done a terrible job.”
