Nnamdi Azikwe Will Be Angry In His Grave – Nwobodo Speaks As Peter Obi Visits
An elder statesman and former governor of Old Anambra State, Jim Nwobodo, has stated that former presidential candidate Peter Obi is the most respectable among his counterparts.
Nwobodo stated this on Tuesday when Obi and his associates paid a courtesy call on the former Anambra State Governor at his Amechi Country Home.
He lamented the current state of the country, adding that those who fought for Nigeria in the past, such as Nnamdi Azikiwe, would be angry in their graves.
Nwobodo stated that they are still praying to God that an Igbo man will one day become the president of Nigeria.
He described Obi’s visit as a mark of respect and what his people are known for.
“We respect elders, I’m no longer just Jim Nwobodo the politician , I’m an elder statesman and that is why they came to see.
“We are one of the people that formed this country called Nigeria, Zik of Afrika was there and I believe that he will be angry in his grave that what he fought for has not been made.
“I have always said we want to know our position in Nigeria, are we strangers? We still pray to God that an Igbo man will be the president of Nigeria,” he stated.
Nwobodo further lamented that for over 50 years, an Igbo man has not emerged as president of Nigeria.
Responding, Obi said they visited Nwobodo to felicitate with him on the New Year and to wish him well as a respected leader.
He added that they will come back to discuss politics and the way forward.
Obi, however, expressed happiness that the elder statesman prayed for them and granted the audience.
