PDP Began To Collapse From The Day I Declared Interest To Contest – Ugochinyere

The lawmaker representing Ideato Federal Constituency of Imo State in the House of Representatives, Ikenga Ugochinyere, has described the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as self-inflicted.

Speaking at a political gathering held in Akokwa, Ideato North Local Government Area of Imo State, Ugochinyere asserted that those who nurtured the crisis are now being consumed by it.

The lawmaker stated that the problems facing the party did not begin recently but instead started from the moment he was cleared to contest the House of Representatives election under the party’s platform.

“From the day we declared to contest under the PDP, we began to face problems,” he said, adding that internal opposition and sabotage trailed his ambition throughout the process.

He also faulted the party’s silence during the political crisis in Rivers State, accusing PDP leaders of failing to defend the party’s integrity at a critical moment.

According to him, a prominent party member from the South-East allegedly endorsed actions that weakened the PDP for personal gain, a move he described as a betrayal of the party’s ideals.

“Today, the monster you enabled is after all of you,” Ugochinyere warned, accusing those involved of sacrificing the party’s future for personal benefits.

He said, despite years of defending the PDP and enduring internal battles, the party is now being deliberately destroyed by those who should protect it.

Ugochinyere dismissed claims that his stance was driven by fear, insisting that his actions were guided by principles and justice.

“As a lawyer and a defender of justice, should I join people who are directionless and only interested in accessing the vault of their state?” he asked.
