Here are answers to some common questions about the “Beyond Education by Sterling” Scholarship Initiative.
Yes, the scholarship covers 100% of the university tuition fees for the entire duration of an approved undergraduate degree. However, all other costs like electronic devices, internet access, textbooks, and living expenses are the responsibility of the winner.
All scholarships are for degree programs at either Miva Open University or Hillside University of Science & Technology (HUST) depending on choice. These institutions are government-approved and fully licensed by the National Universities Commission (NUC)
To be eligible, a nominee must be:
- A Nigerian citizen.
- Aged between sixteen (16) and thirty-five (35) years on the date of their nomination.
- Able to satisfy the admission criteria for Miva Open University or Hillside University.
- Please note that JAMB/UTME scores are not required for Miva University.
To nominate someone, you must hold an active personal Savings or Current account with Sterling Bank. Employees of Sterling Bank, Hillside University, or Miva Open University, and their immediate families, are not eligible to nominate.
No, the person being nominated does not need a Sterling account. Only the person submitting the nomination (the Nominator) needs to be a Sterling Bank account holder.
Yes, you can nominate yourself as long as you meet the eligibility criteria for a Nominee and use a valid Sterling Bank account to submit the nomination.
All nominations must be submitted through the official website, sterling.ng/future, during the Nomination Period. The Nominator will need to complete the form, provide their valid Sterling Bank account number for verification, and confirm they have the Nominee’s consent.
Winners are selected through a public voting process exclusive to Sterling Bank account holders. After the nomination period, verified nominees will be listed on our website under their state of residence. At the end of the voting period, the two Nominees with the highest number of verified votes in each state and the FCT will be declared the provisional winners for that tranche.
In the event of a tie for a final winning spot in any state, the nominee who was nominated earlier will be given higher priority.
Yes. Winners must maintain good academic standing and abide by all of the University’s regulations. The scholarship can be revoked for poor academic performance or misconduct.
