Nollywood actor Chinedu Ikedieze, popularly known as Aki, has shared details about painful experiences from his childhood linked to his small body size caused by stunted growth.

In a conversation with media personality Chude Jideonwo, he talked about how he was often mocked by children in his neighbourhood while growing up. He said the insults followed him everywhere, and even his siblings sometimes used the same hurtful names during disagreements, which made the experience even more painful for him.

Abia Radio News reports that he explained that the constant teasing affected him deeply and pushed him into a very low emotional state. At one point, he even had thoughts of ending his life because he felt overwhelmed by how people treated him and the way society viewed him.

Chinedu also spoke about the role his mother played in his life during those difficult years. According to him, she stood by him, comforted him, and advised him to ignore the insults. She encouraged him to focus on his education and build a future for himself, since he could not do physical work like many other boys his age.

He said: “I was constantly mocked by children in my neighbourhood. Even my siblings sometimes used the same hurtful names during arguments. The way people treated me pushed me into a very dark place. There was a time I felt the weight was too much to carry.

“I felt like society was being unfair to me. My mother stood by me when things were really hard. She told me to ignore the insults and focus on my education. I could not do the kind of physical work other boys were doing. Her advice gave me direction and hope for the future. Those words helped shape the path that led to my success.”
