People Tell Lies Against Me To Danjuma – Gov Kefas Blasts Rumour Merchant

The Governor of Taraba State, Agbu Kefas, has accused some individuals of feeding elder statesman and former Minister of Defence, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (retd.), lies against him.

Kefas spoke during a solidarity visit by traditional rulers from Wukari, his hometown, at the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo.

He dismissed speculations that there is a strained relationship between him and the elder statesman, adding that their connection remains “sound, firm and solid.”

The governor’s remarks appeared to be a response to months of political speculation suggesting a frosty relationship between the two prominent Taraba figures.

The rumour has fuelled uncertainty about the state’s political direction ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

Receiving the delegation, the governor thanked them for the visit and expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve as governor of the state.

He said, “I thank God for the grace to lead Taraba State and for opening my mind to see Taraba beyond Wukari. Governance must be inclusive. Taraba belongs to over 80 ethnic groups, and every one of them deserves good governance.”

The governor commended Gen. Danjuma for identifying and supporting him for leadership, insisting that the retired General remained fully aware of his leadership capacity and vision for the state.

“Some people go to General Danjuma to criticise me, but he knows me better than they do,” Kefas said. “As a soldier, he understands capacity, discipline and leadership. He is not disturbed by those who go to tell lies against me.”

He urged residents to register en masse with the All Progressives Congress, describing party membership as key to attracting federal presence and opportunities to the state.

“We must mobilise for the APC. The benefits of alignment with the centre are clear, and Taraba will continue to benefit,” he said.
