Supervise your subordinates to prevent vicarious liability – CP tells senior police officers in Abia

Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Department and other senior officers in Abia State Police Command have been charged to properly supervise their subordinates in their respective formations, in order to prevent operational lapses, vicarious liability and misconduct of officers.

The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Danladi Isa gave the directive in Umuahia during an emergency conference with strategic officers’ of the Command.

The Commissioner of Police informed the strategic officers that the directive came from the Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.

The CP, who directed that the Command’s medical team will be deployed to examine the physical and mental well-being of officers across divisions and formations within the Command.

He charged officers to strengthen visibility policing, improve accessibility to members of the public and maintain civility and professionalism at all times, reiterating zero tolerance for arrest by proxy, impunity, or other corrupt practices capable of undermining public confidence and trust in the Nigeria Police Force.

He directed officers to acquaint themselves with relevant books on Nigerian law, professional studies and the Nigeria Constitution in order to be proficient in their duties.
